How to Take Pictures for Your Walkthrough
You don't need a professional camera — your phone is enough. A few minutes of prep makes a real difference in how the final video looks.
Before you start
Turn on every light in the room, then open blinds and curtains too. More light = better video, always.
Clear countertops, put away laundry/dishes, make the beds, and tuck away personal items (photos, mail, toiletries). A decluttered room reads bigger and cleaner on video. Don't have time for this? Decluttering is available as an add-on — we can handle it for you.
Keep people and pets out of the shot.
How to shoot
Hold your phone sideways (landscape), not upright. Video walkthroughs are widescreen — portrait photos get cropped or look wrong.
Shoot from a room's corner, not the center — this captures more depth and makes rooms feel bigger.
Hold the phone at chest height. Too high or too low distorts the room.
Avoid shooting directly into windows or bright light sources — it'll wash out the photo. Angle away from direct sunlight instead.
Take 2–4 photos per room from different corners/angles.
What order to shoot in
Exterior/front of the house first (curb appeal)
Main living areas (living room, dining room)
Kitchen
Bedrooms
Bathrooms
Backyard/outdoor spaces last
Shooting in this order matches how the final walkthrough flows, so it's easier for us to build too.
